About This Site:

This website is a venue for my music, poetry and philosophy. Most of the music is recorded at my home studio located about 30 miles north of Seattle Washington USA, in a beautiful forest which I call "The Land Beneath The Waves" after a poem written by Taliesin, the chief bard of the ancient Britons. The studio itself is named Caer Siddi (pronounced Kier Sithhee). Caer  is Welsh for castle or mountain, in this case it's anotherworldly castle.  An old Welsh legend states that anybody who spends the night on Caer Siddi will either obtain complete wisdom or become completely mad, or in other words, a poet. One must be crazy to think they're a poet.

This is not a commercial site. I have CD's available at CD Baby , however, not all the music posted here is available on CD, either because it is out of print or I haven't released it yet. I am a completely independent artist, free from the shackles of a record company and only accountable to myself and my audience. I would not refrain from composing or producing a piece of music because it wouldn't make money.

The Music:

I am an improvisational keyboardist, composer and singer/songwriter, playing live performances around the world for the last 30 years. I would consider my music a blend of jazz, pop/rock and world fusion. I also play, guitar (bass, electric, acoustic), trumpet and percussion.

Here you will find MP3 downloads of some of my published works, as well as some live outtakes and demos of upcoming albums. The genres are diverse amongst the recordings. Some of the music has been left as a live take, while on some of the others I've overdubbed other instruments and included other musicians.

One of my most rewarding experiences has been working with world musicians such as Gheeta Navelle, my friend from Bangalore India who plays the Veena on my latest CD 'A Man Out Standing In His Field'. In an eclectic mix of Celtic piano and Hindu Veena, we do a couple of free lance pieces called The Rubber Worlds. She also assists me on a blues song, of all things.  My friends, Rob Charles and Arlie Neskahi, both very talented Native American singers, helped me on the song Blown Away, a tribute  to the Navajo and Hopi Indian nations. Also included on some cuts are Darlene Parnell(Vocals) and Wayne Porter (Drums/Percussion). The CD has a nice review from Victory Music in the Reviews section of this website, but please feel free to listen to the downloads and judge it for yourself. If you enjoy it then maybe you would like to purchase one for less than 10 dollars, cheaper than a bad movie. The CD is much higher fidelity, includes a booklet of lyrics and credits and encompasses an 'around the world' theme in celebration of the diversity of culture on the great planet earth.

I have recently released my first album "Towers Of Love & Other Short Stories" in digital form and is available for downloads here. The album was originally released in 1986 and I believe it to be the last great progressive rock album. It was very popular at the time and the digital master sounds much better, although you still have to listen to it on headphones to truly appreciate the complex arrangements. Towers Of Love is my first epic poem, a familiar story of rise and fall and realization put here to a 30 minute piece of galactic music. I don't like to brag but this is a must for keyboard fans, there are some real moving pieces here and I mean really moving!!! Dubbed Galactic Jazz by an old promoter,  I never really appreciated it as much as I do now, over 20 years later. Anyone out there who bought the album?? The downloads are large and they may take a while, but now I have a new master I may publish a CD if there seems to be enough interest.

A note on the concerts: My shows can include myself on piano, playing my own compositions and jazzed up covers, sometimes singing sometimes not, depending on the venue. If time permits I bring out more keyboards and  synthesizers, playing up to three at once. I also occasionally play with a band, (bass, drum/percussion, guitar and even Veena, Tabla and Mrigamba when I'm in India). Backup musicians usually cost money though. Check out the links page for some of my friends and collaborators.

The Poetry:

Poetry is imagery, like a series of paintings. It shows us the inadequacy of words and needs to be imagined more than read. Like our dreams it is a series of familiar images that can make an impact without being understood. Our inner voice may speak to us in words, but behind it is the inner mind. Quiet the voice and see the images created by the mind. Babies can think and feel before they can speak. For one to truly connect with a poem, they must have shared the experience of the poet, so sometimes I like to add a commentary on the stories behind the song.

The first song I remember writing was when I was five or six years was "King Kong's a Banana". Since then I must have written hundreds of poems. I write poetry with rhyme and rhythm and so they almost always inevitably become songs. Every song is a poem and every poem is a song. I think that poems are much more entertaining when sung. A major theme in the poetry is my philosophy, so to some it may appear  'preachy', but one must remember philosophy is a science, an endless search for truth and should be differentiated from faith, they are mostly the thoughts of a scientist,  only rarely are they the inspiration of a prophet. Mostly I'm writing about myself, what I'm experiencing, thinking, feeling and imagining, physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.

The Philosophy:

I call my philosophy harmonism and the belief in the logical conclusions derived from the perfect and unabsolute Truth of the The Rule Of Harmony which states that "there are many forces that interact to create a harmonic motion which becomes existence itself and if any one force were to take complete control, all would cease to exist." The rule is applied to moral, economic, spiritual, political and other persuasions, and was also used in the design of the redundancy management for airborne computer  systems.

On this website I am introducing my philosophy via poetry and my in work book titled The Rule Of Harmony. This is a book of conclusions and concepts, and there is no better way to express them than through imagery.
